When it comes to maternity wear, there are plenty of tricks you can use to allow you to wear your pre-pregnancy clothes for much longer. One common query relates to how to wear regular jeans while pregnant. Luckily there are many ways.
You may have a tight budget, you may not be able to find maternity clothing that you love or you may be like many mothers to be, and can still fit into your regular clothes (at least for the first few months).
Here are 5 tips you can use to extend the life of your normal jeans or pants and wear them well into your pregnancy:
1. Using a hair elastic
The most inexpensive, easiest trick is to simply use a hair elastic to expand the waist on your pre-pregnancy jeans.
All you need to do is take a hair elastic and feed it halfway into the buttonhole.
Then take the end that’s in your left hand and loop it through the end that’s in your right hand, and then pull tightly to secure.
Now, instead of buttoning your jeans, just loop the elastic over the button.
2. Belly Band
The popular belly band is designed to cover exposed skin, hide unbuttoned jeans and even hold up maternity jeans that are a little too big. It even doubles as extra tummy support when you need it most.
Easy to easy and comfortable to wear. I’d say this is a must have pregnancy item.
3. Waist Extender
If you want a more subtle trick than a hair elastic, a waist extender. They are designed to do achieve a similar result as the hair elastic but are designed with pregnancy in mind. The stretchable elastic clips allow your pants to grow with your belly and easily fasten to both sides of your jeans or pants at the zipper. Better still they can be used on any pants with a zip or a button fly. Very versatile.
4. Belly Extender
The belly extender is a super comfortable option which will save you money. This instant fix is made from cotton and comes in a two pack. It is the perfect accessory transform your pre pregnancy wardrobe allowing you to carry on wearing your clothes that you love.
If you have a favorite pair of jeans that you simply can’t live without for 9 months, you could always have some ‘temporary’ alternations made. Inserting some expandable side inseams will allow your pants to expand with your growing body for and then when you’re back to your pre-pregnancy size, just get them removed. It’s always an option!
