If you are interested in using reusable nursing pads instead of the disposable ones, you’re going to want to know how many breast pads you’ll use per day and that will help you determine how many you’ll need to buy.

How Many Reusable Nursing Pads Do I Need To Buy
Most commonly, breastfeeding mothers buy at least 6 sets when they are starting out.

  • One spare set in the diaper bag
  • One or two pairs are usually in the wash
  • At least 3 pairs to wear in any one day

It all depends on how often you do laundry and how much you leak.  You may find you need closer to 10 or 12 pairs in the early days until your milk production regulates.

Don’t go out any buy lots and lots thinking you may need them.  Get yourself a few sets that you know you’ll use and in the short term you can always have some disposables on hand to use in am emergency whilst you work out how many you will need, how often you get time to wash them and which designs/fabric best suits you.
