“Ahh my pregnancy bra is killing me“.
It’s a common complaint amongst pregnant women.
And it is not generally the cup size of the bra that is the culprit. It’s the band.
No matter what brand, style, cut or design pregnant women choose to wear, they still feel like they are being cut in half.
So, what’s the cause and what can be done about it?
Wearing an underwire bra when pregnant
In many instances the concern lies in whether you are wearing a supportive maternity bra. As your breasts expand and your body changes shape, it is important to consider ditching the underwire bra. Other than potential ‘safety’ concerns, it could be the underwire that is actually making your bra so uncomfortable.
If you are not keen on a bra without an underwire, you could always get yourself an additional tank top that has a shelf bra in it to give you the extra support. Having said that, maternity bras, when properly fitted, will give you the support you need as well as the room to grow.
Going up a bra size
Alternatively, you may need to go up a size. Your pregnant body will be going through so many changes, don’t overlook the fact that your cup size may be accommodated for but your band needs to change sizes too.
Bra extender
Have you ever considered a bra extender? These clever little, inexpensive gadgets are amazing. They hook onto your bra’s hook and eyes to extend the reach of bra, effectively loosening the strap.
A bra extender will extend the shelf life of your entire bra collection quickly and affordably. They are available in 2 and 3 and 4 hook designs and different colors.
And finally, if nothing helps, there’s nothing wrong with getting home at the end of a long day and simply taking it off.
